Pentecostalisms and the public sphere

Religion, a human and social dimension, should not be understood as something directed only to individuals, since it involves the entire reference group. An active reality, it spreads throughout society its themes and social practices that mark a way of negotiating the difficult relationship between the "I/we" and the "other/they" in contexts that demand positioning. Although religious practices are presented in an ambivalent way, there is no denial that they demonstrate a potential for virtue; on the contrary, there is a recognition as something positive that is constructed. This "potential of virtue" occurs, therefore, through an analysis of the public space that allows us to identify significant experiences that integrate social reality. This paper seeks to focus on issues surrounding the relationship between religion and the public sphere, highlighting its sociais role, politics, and citizenship. The foundations of any community are the relations of reciprocity. It is through this epistemological perspective that we come to understand and define community by the solidarity relations of human groups that share the same identity, such as nations, families, church, and can thus be legitimately called "community", since they are governed by relations of alliances cemented by giving/receiving/returning.
